ANGELS NOTEBOOK: PERCIVAL BACK UP TO SPEED.

Byline: Joe Haakenson Staff Writer

ANAHEIM - For those Angels fans weak of heart, it hasn't been a good idea lately to watch closer Troy Percival Troy Eugene Percival (born August 9, 1969 in Fontana, California) is a Major League Baseball reliever on the St. Louis Cardinals. Percival came out of retirement on June 8, 2007 when he signed a minor league deal with the Cardinals[1].  pitch the ninth inning.

. He's 3 for 3 in save opportunities since, but Percival had to walk a tightrope in the past two during the weekend series with Baltimore.

On Friday, the Orioles put the tying runs on base before Percival finished off a 5-3 victory. Then Saturday, the Orioles had the tying run at third and the go-ahead run on first before Percival ended a 3-2 win.

Percival, though, said it goes with the territory as a closer.

``After 10 years in the league it seems I've always got somebody on base,'' said Percival, who has 12 saves in 15 opportunities this year. ``When you're in a one-run game every day, that's what happens. There was a point in my career where I went out and didn't have many baserunners, but at this point, everybody in the league has seen me a hundred times. There's going to be people on base; I've just got to pitch out of it.''

--Kotchman's streak continues: First baseman Casey Kotchman Casey John Kotchman (born February 22, 1983 in St. Petersburg, Florida) is a Major League Baseball first baseman for Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He hit his first Major League home run on August 5 2005.
