"We got nicked up today, so it was good that we held onto the win," Angels manager Mike Scioscia "He just didn't have any strength in it, and we're going to take our time to make sure he's 100 percent healthy. There's something still going on in his leg and we're going to do everything we can to make sure he's all right. "Casey was woozy after getting hit in the head, and hopefully he won't be out too long. Right now, he's day to day." With Anderson going on the disabled list, the Angels will call up a player from Triple-A Salt Lake today. Anderson was hurt on a flyball hit to left field by Juan Pierre Juan D'Vaughn Pierre (born August 14, 1977 in Mobile, Alabama), is a professional baseball center fielder who plays for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He bats and throws left-handed. In his seven years through 2006, Pierre has batted . in the bottom of the first inning. Anderson raced over and made an awkward-looking catch, reaching down to make the play instead of bending his legs. In the top of the second inning, he was due to hit second but Reggie Willits Reggie Gene Willits (born May 30, 1981, in Chickasha, Oklahoma) is a Major League Baseball outfielder with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He doubled with two outs in the seventh, and a couple of pitches later Martin, the Dodgers' catcher, tried to catch him off second base. Martin fired the ball to second and Kotchman went diving back in, but the ball hit him in the back of the head, bouncing off his helmet. Kotchman lay motionless on the ground and had to be helped off the field. He was diagnosed with a concussion and was taken to Centinela Hospital for further tests. Guerrero was hit in the right arm in the fifth inning but Scioscia said he's OK. Weaver jarred his shoulder when he slid into second base in the third inning but he was able to remain in the game and pitch 5 1/3 innings to earn the victory. Rivera to take batting practice: Juan Rivera, who has been on the disabled list all season with a broken left leg, has been cleared to take batting practice and might sometime this week. But Scioscia said it's still too early to count on Rivera. "Taking batting practice would be a big step for Juan but right now, he's only penciled in to our depth chart," Scioscia said. "There's still a lot of questions with him but if he progresses without any setbacks, he'll be in the picture. We're counting on seeing Juan at some point this year. When that is, though, is still up in the air." Also: Chone Figgins went 0 for 5, ending his career-high hitting streak at 14 games. |
