Late Wednesday, they summoned first baseman Casey Kotchman Casey John Kotchman (born February 22, 1983 in St. Petersburg, Florida) is a Major League Baseball first baseman for Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He hit his first Major League home run on August 5 2005. In 47 games in 2005, Kotchman had 7 home runs and 22 runs batted in.  from Triple-A Salt Lake for depth at the corner infield spot. Hours later, Erstad inflamed his right hip when he stumbled over the mound running down a second-inning pop-up and left the game five innings later.

Erstad is listed as day-to-day, but he's not likely to play tonight against Tampa Bay Tampa Bay, inlet of the Gulf of Mexico, 25 mi (40 km) long and 7 to 12 mi (11.3–19 km) wide, W Fla., separated from the Gulf by numerous small islands; it receives the Hillsborough River. Erstad said the injury isn't serious, but indicated he has a difficult time moving defensively; he committed an error an inning after suffering the injury.

That could open the door again for Kotchman, the club's top prospect who manager Mike Scioscia

Kotchman was recalled partially because the Angels need to begin shaping a potential playoff roster. Kotchman made the cut for the 2004 postseason squad, but backslid to begin '05, going 0 for his first 19 at Triple-A Salt Lake.

Drafted by the California Angels in the 2nd round of the 1995 amateur draft out of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Washburn won the final game  said teammates and staff members ``put a box-and-one'' defense on him to convince him going on the disabled list was the proper course of action to deal with stiffness in his forearm and elbow inflammation.
