ANAHEIM -- Just when the Angels seemed to be getting back on track, injuries are starting to threaten their chances.

He bats and throws right handed.  was put on the disabled list with elbow tendinitis, rookie Jered Weaver Jered David Weaver (born October 4, 1982 in Northridge, California), is a Major League Baseball starting pitcher with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Jered attended college at Long Beach State University where he was the 2004 College Baseball's Golden Spikes Award winner.
 was diagnosed with biceps tendinitis. Weaver will not go on the disabled list just yet, but he will have his next start pushed back.

Weaver was supposed to make his second-half debut Monday against the Cleveland Indians Editing of this page by unregistered or newly registered users is currently disabled due to vandalism.  but the Angels plan on using right-hander Dustin Mosley in that spot. To make room for Mosley, the Angels plan to make a roster move after today's game.

He has also previously played in the Dominican Republic.  is expected to be sent back to Triple-A Salt Lake. Kendrick was recalled Friday when Escobar went on the DL.

Weaver experienced biceps soreness in each of his past two starts but said the problem was nothing new. He likened it to a dead-arm period and planned on pitching through it.

It was apparent, though, that the problem had the Angels worried. When manager Mike Scioscia

     set up his second-half rotation, he had Weaver and Escobar at the back end and said a ``physical need'' helped dictate the order of starters.

    Soreness or not, Weaver had been getting the job done. He is 6-0 this season with a 1.12 ERA. In his past two starts, both on the road, he had given up just one run in 14 innings with 14 strikeouts.

    If Weaver rejoins the rotation in his regular spot he won't pitch again until Saturday at Kansas City Kansas City, two adjacent cities of the same name, one (1990 pop. 149,767), seat of Wyandotte co., NE Kansas (inc. 1859), the other (1990 pop. 435,146), Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties, NW Mo.     The Angels also have a decision to make on how to fill Escobar's spot Tuesday.

    Mosley got the call to start Monday over teammate Joe Saunders. Mosley, who will be making his major-league debut, is 8-4 at Salt Lake with a 3.99 ERA in 17 starts.

    Rundown: Despite a batting average nearly 30 points below his career mark at the start of the month, Chone Figgins still has been scoring runs. He entered Saturday with 57 runs and was on pace to score 103 this season.

    Anderson honored: Garret Anderson was presented with a crystal trophy in honor of his 2,000th career hit. Anderson achieved the milestone July 1 with a single against the Dodgers. General manager Bill Stoneman and owner Arte Moreno presented the award during a pregame ceremony behind home plate.

    No timetable for Erstad: Darin Erstad has been working out with the team, but there is no timetable on his return. Scioscia said that Erstad is progressing very slowly.
