ANGELS NOTEBOOK: HOLTZ PAYS PRICE FOR INJURIES.

Byline: Joe Haakenson

Angels manager Terry Collins looked at his roster Friday night after catcher Matt Walbeck Matthew Lovick Walbeck (Born: October 2, 1969 in Sacramento, California) is a former righthanded Major League Baseball catcher who played from 1993 to 2003 for the Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, Anaheim Angels and Philadelphia Phillies.  was knocked woozy in a home-plate collision in the seventh inning.

This article is about the major league baseball player. For other people named Charles O'Brien see this disambiguation page.

Randy Lee Velarde (born November 24 1962 in Midland, Texas) is a former Major League Baseball infielder who played for the New York Yankees, California/Anaheim Angels, Oakland Athletics, and Texas Rangers from 1987 to 2002.
(stiff lower back) unavailable but still on the active roster, Collins' choice of reserves was limited.

Saturday the Angels did something about it, sending reliever Mike Holtz to Triple-A Edmonton and calling up infielder Dave Silvestri.

Silvestri, who can play second, third and shortstop, was hitting .439 (29 for 66) with one homer, seven doubles and 12 RBI RBI

in 16 games for Edmonton. He began the season playing for Durham, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays' Triple-A club, before being released.

Holtz was 1-1 with a 1.42 ERA, but simply had not been getting enough work lately since the club was carrying 12 pitchers. He had pitched twice in the past 10 games.

``I was surprised a little bit,'' Holtz said of his demotion de·mote

Collins said Silvestri, 31, will start today's game, but he didn't say at which position.

Mo's fans: The Boston Herald got a little loose with the truth in its gossip column Friday. The column said that 25 strippers from ``The Foxy Lady,'' a club Mo Vaughn visited while he played in Boston, would be sitting behind the Angels dugout for Friday's game.

There were a few women behind the dugout who held signs like the one that said: ``Mo, We Miss You. The Foxy Lady.''

But the column also indicated Vaughn would leave after Friday's game with the women to go to a club called ``The Rack.'' Vaughn left Fenway Park on Friday with family members.

By the numbers: Five weeks into the season and only one Angels starting pitcher - Omar Olivares (3-3) - has more than one victory.
