Todd Greene Todd Anthony Greene (born May 8, 1971 in Augusta, Georgia) is a catcher in Major League Baseball who is currently a free agent. He previously played for the Anaheim Angels (1996-2000), Toronto Blue Jays (2000), New York Yankees (2001), Texas Rangers 2002-2003) and the Colorado  has become Sparks' personal catcher, and with good reason.

In Sparks' first four starts, either Matt Walbeck Matthew Lovick Walbeck (Born: October 2, 1969 in Sacramento, California) is a former righthanded Major League Baseball catcher who played from 1993 to 2003 for the Chicago Cubs, Minnesota Twins, Detroit Tigers, Anaheim Angels and Philadelphia Phillies.  or Charlie O'Brien caught him and he went 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA. In his past two starts with Greene behind the plate, Sparks is 1-0 with a 1.15 ERA.

``I think when you've got a catcher who has caught his whole life, it's more difficult to catch a knuckleball pitcher,'' said Greene, who was an outfielder in college. ``Converted catchers might have it easier because you're not so set in your ways and you allow the pitch to come to you.''

Greene caught Sparks on Wednesday and Sparks got his first victory of the year - eight innings, one run, three hits.

``He called a good game,'' Angels manager Terry Collins said.

``My rhythm's been a lot smoother because I've been throwing strikes,'' Sparks said of his past few starts. ``Obviously I give (Greene) a lot of credit because he's been doing a good job.''

Injury reports: Second baseman Randy Velarde was scratched from Thursday's game because of a stiff lower back. Velarde had started all of the Angels' first 28 games before Thursday.

Right fielder Tim Salmon, who sprained his left wrist last Monday, was sent to Henry Ford Hospital Henry Ford Hospital is a hospital located in Detroit, Michigan a few blocks from Wayne State University and the New Center area, near the Fisher Building and Cadillac Place.
