ANAHEIM -- Darin Erstad Darin Charles Erstad (born June 4, 1974 in Jamestown, North Dakota) is a first baseman/center fielder in Major League Baseball currently with the Chicago White Sox. Prior to 2007, he had played his entire career with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim franchise (1996-2006).  is quite literally ready to turn a corner in his rehabilitation from a sore right foot and ankle.

After a pregame run Monday, Erstad ran the bases Tuesday and will attempt to run the bases again today. It would be the first time he has run the bases on back-to-back days since going on the disabled list retroactive to May 1.

Erstad first went on the disabled list because of irritation from two bone spurs in his right ankle. While on the DL, it was discovered he also had a bone bruise in his foot and an irritated tendon.

``I never felt it hitting, just turning left,'' Erstad said. ``In baseball, left turns are a good thing so that's what I need to be able to do.''

After receiving a second cortisone cortisone (kôr`tĭsōn'), steroid hormone whose main physiological effect is on carbohydrate metabolism. It is synthesized from cholesterol in the outer layer, or cortex, of the adrenal gland under the stimulation of adrenocorticotropic  injection in the ankle this month, Erstad was given an insert for his shoe. He used the orthotic orthotic /or·thot·ic/ (or-thot´ik) serving to protect or to restore or improve function; pertaining to the use or application of an orthosis.

The Angels essentially will pick up the bulk of what remains on Yan's $1.25 million salary this season.
