Byline: Gabe Lacques Staff Writer

BALTIMORE - The Angels can only hope closer Troy Percival Troy Eugene Percival (born August 9, 1969 in Fontana, California) is a Major League Baseball reliever on the St. Louis Cardinals. Percival came out of retirement on June 8, 2007 when he signed a minor league deal with the Cardinals[1].  isn't out as long as center fielder Darin Erstad Darin Charles Erstad (born June 4, 1974 in Jamestown, North Dakota) is a first baseman/center fielder in Major League Baseball currently with the Chicago White Sox. Prior to 2007, he had played his entire career with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim franchise (1996-2006). , who hasn't played since April 19 and today will try to run the bases for the first time since his strained right- hamstring tendon forced him to the disabled list.

But for now, Percival's degenerative right-hip situation is sounding similar to Erstad's plight. It hurts, the Angels say they don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

Percival said he's been around too long to get worried over an uncertain injury situation. He looked to be in pain as he ambled around the grounds of the White House on Tuesday but actually said his hip felt better.

``It's starting to last longer,'' he said of his endurance while walking on the hip. ``The first day on it, an hour felt good. I'm up to three to four hours of feeling good on it now. But I don't get that impatient with it.''

Percival was placed on the disabled list Friday and is eligible to come off June 8. If it gets near that time and he's still not feeling better, then he said he will feel concerned.

--Middle men: The middle of the Angels' lineup has gone into a simultaneous funk. No. 3 hitter Tim Salmon

``Any time a pitcher's in control of three pitches, he's not going to get hit,'' Anderson said of Ponson. ``That's the bottom line.''
