Evans, 24, was a 47th-round draft pick in 2001 that was not showing much promise before this season. But he batted .307 with 15home runs and 45 RBIs in 60games at Single-A Palm Beach before earning a promotion. If a medical exam doesn't clear him to run this weekend, Erstad will wait until next week's All-Star break to test his injured right ankle.
