Byline: Joe Haakenson Staff Writer

KANSAS CITY Kansas City, two adjacent cities of the same name, one (1990 pop. 149,767), seat of Wyandotte co., NE Kansas (inc. 1859), the other (1990 pop. 435,146), Clay, Jackson, and Platte counties, NW Mo. (inc. 1850). , Mo. - The Angels put shortstop Orlando Cabrera Orlando Luis Cabrera (born November 2, 1974 in Cartagena, Colombia) is a Major League Baseball shortstop who plays for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. He bats and throws right-handed.  on the disabled list Saturday because of a strained right elbow that isn't making much progress.

Cabrera missed the Texas series June 20-22, returned to play against the Dodgers June 24-26, but has not played since. The DL stint is retroactive to June 27, meaning Cabrera will be eligible to return once games resume after the All-Star break on July 14.

Cabrera, who is hitting .243 with four homers and 22 RBIs after signing a four-year, $32 million contract, has averaged 160 games the past four seasons and had not been on the disabled list since 2000, but his elbow injury hasn't responded to treatment the way he and the Angels have hoped.

``For me to go on the DL is a major thing, but if I have to go, I have to go,'' Cabrera said. ``You don't win championships now, you win championships later. I'm really concerned because I've never had problems with my elbow before. I'm concerned because the last time I came back I felt good and then it's back to this.''

--Angel All-Stars: With the announcement of the All-Star teams today, the Angels will send Vladimir Guerrero Vladimir Alvino Guerrero (born February 9, 1976 in Don Gregorio, Nizao, Dominican Republic), and known in his native Dominican Republic as Miquéas (Spanish for Micah), is a Major League Baseball right fielder who plays for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  as a starter, and probably a couple others, like Garret Anderson Garret Joseph Anderson (born June 30, 1972 in Los Angeles, California) is a Major League Baseball left fielder who has played his entire career for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  (Kennedy High of Granada Hills), Bartolo Colon and/or Francisco Rodriguez Francisco Rodriguez may refer to:

One player who won't be going is Chone Figgins Desmond DeChone "Chone" Figgins (born January 22, 1978 in Leary, Georgia) is a Major League Baseball utility player for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Despite the unusual spelling of his first name, "Chone" is pronounced as "Shawn. . With Figgins, it's not just about numbers. Figgins is hitting .276 with five homers, 34 RBIs and 25 stolen bases, but what will keep him out of the game is not having a position to call his own.

--DaVanon rests: Juan Rivera has gotten the start at DH in place of Jeff DaVanon the past two games, even though the Angels were facing a right-handed starting pitcher.

``(DaVanon) is banged up a little bit, it's good for him to catch his breath,'' manager Mike Scioscia said.
