ANGELS NOTEBOOK: ANGELS NEED DICKSON TO FIND EARLY-SEASON FORM.

Byline: Marc J. Spears Daily News Staff Writer

Remember the Jason Dickson
Jason Dickson (born March 30, 1973 in London, Ontario) is a Canadian baseball pitcher.'

Dickson is a graduate of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M University. He plays for the Somerset Patriots and was drafted by the California Angels in the 6th round of the 1994 MLB Amateur
who became an All-Star and seemed like the only American League American League (AL)

Many star palyers were received this award such as Lee Dong-Gook, Lee Chun-Soo, and so on.  away from Boston's Nomar Garciaparra Anthony Nomar Garciaparra[1] (born July 23, 1973, in Whittier, California) is a Mexican-American baseball player who currently plays third base for the Los Angeles Dodgers. ?

Well, the Angels are hoping to find him today.

The right-hander entered the All-Star break with an 8-4 record and a 3.41 ERA. Since then, he's gone 5-3, his ERA has jumped .70 points and he has lost his past two starts. He is third in the AL in home runs allowed (27) and among league leaders in hits allowed (209).

Dickson, however, is not putting pressure on himself to change his luck and end the Angels' five-game losing streak during today's start against Detroit at Tiger Stadium Tiger Stadium is the name of several stadiums, including:

    • Tiger Stadium (LSU) - Home of the Louisiana State University American football team.
    .

``There is no pressure,'' Dickson said. ``You just go out there and do what you can do. Not too much. I can't go out there and win four games for the series. I can only try to win (today's) game.''

Despite Dickson's words, Angels manager Terry Collins said the pitcher is putting too much pressure on himself, is unrelaxed and needs to continue his aggressive style. He also said that he was going to speak with the 24-year-old about the first two months of the season when he had a 6-2 record and a 3.78 ERA.

``He is trying very hard,'' Collins said. ``He is trying to be perfect and do more to help us win. But he doesn't need to do more. He just needs to do what he has been doing. Maybe there is some pressure on him, but we are all feeling that, too. He just has to get guys out.''

Probably not, because the Angels aren't playing any better and are in the midst Adv. 1. in the midst - the middle or central part or point; "in the midst of the forest"; "could he walk out in the midst of his piece?"

``There is a sense to put things in order,'' Yankees pitcher David Cone said. ``But the scoreboard watch shows that the Angels aren't putting any pressure on us.''

Also: The Angels' Orlando Palmeiro will likely come off the disabled list today. The outfielder was placed on the DL on Aug. 22 with back spasms . . . . Angels shortstop Gary DiSarcina stopped an 0-for-12 streak with a single in the third inning and tied a career-best four hits. He was 4 for 4 with a double and a run scored . . . . Late Friday night, however, the run was changed to earned after a throwing error charged to Darin Erstad was reversed. Juan Encarnacion was called safe on Erstad's high throw to DiSarcina at second on a fielder's choice.
