ANGELS NOTEBOOK: ANDERSON AGAIN LATE SCRATCH BEFORE GAME.

Byline: Keven Chavez Staff Writer

SEATTLE - Garret Anderson Garret Joseph Anderson (born June 30, 1972 in Los Angeles, California) is a Major League Baseball left fielder who has played his entire career for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.  missed his third game of the Angels' six-game trip on Sunday afternoon. For the second time, he was in the lineup before being scratched shortly before game time.

Anderson has a sore left knee, which was aggravated Tuesday against Oakland. Anderson missed the game Sunday when his back tightened after pregame batting practice.

Even before the lineup change Sunday, Angels manager Mike Scioscia

``It's something we can't force,'' Scioscia said. ``I think we're going to be happy if he feels good enough to swing and hit in our lineup.''

With Anderson hitting at DH because of his injury, rookie first baseman Casey Kotchman Casey John Kotchman (born February 22, 1983 in St. Petersburg, Florida) is a Major League Baseball first baseman for Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. Scioscia had planned to regularly use Kotchman at DH, where he had a solo home run in the fourth inning Sunday.

``We have some outfield depth, one thing we don't have is offensive depth so we need (Anderson) to stay at a level where he can go out there and swing every day and if it's from DH then that's what he's going to do,'' Scioscia said.
