ANGELS LET ONE GET AWAY SEATTLE BREAKS THROUGH LATE FOR VICTORY SEATTLE 5, ANGELS 4.

Byline: Gordon Verrell Staff Writer

With slugging Troy Glaus Troy Edward Glaus (born August 3, 1976 in Tarzana, California) is a Major League Baseball player who plays third base for the Toronto Blue Jays. Previously, Glaus played with the Anaheim Angels (1998-2004) and the Arizona Diamondbacks (2005).  sitting out the first of his two-game suspension Tuesday night, the Angels slipped into their ``little ball'' mode, which seemed a little overwhelming against a force such as the Seattle Mariners The Seattle Mariners are a professional baseball team based in Seattle, Washington. The Mariners are a member of the Western Division of Major League Baseball's American League. From to the present, the Mariners have played in Safeco Field. .

For a while, it worked fine. But when the Mariners displayed their long-ball approach, it was a different game.

The Mariners battered the Angels' bullpen for five runs in the seventh and eighth innings to win 5-4 before a crowd of 16,908 at Edison Field.

Starters Jarrod Washburn Jarrod Michael Washburn (born August 13, 1974 in La Crosse, Wisconsin) is a Major League Baseball pitcher for the Seattle Mariners. Drafted by the California Angels in the 2nd round of the 1995 amateur draft out of the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Washburn won the final game  of the Angels and Paul Abbott

Glaus was docked two games for his role in the March 9 brawl with the San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. He is the son of former Cardinal Ed Spiezio.  five games.

Abbott made his way with ease through the first five Angel batters, not even allowing a ball to leave the infield. But, with two outs in the second, Spiezio - making his season debut after sitting out his five-game suspension - lofted a single into shallow center field. Orlando Palmeiro Orlando Palmeiro (b. His better known cousin Rafael Palmeiro was also a Major League player.  followed with another single to center, then Molina cranked a double over left fielder Ruben Sierra's head and two runs scored.

The Angels made it 3-0 in the fourth when Brad Fullmer Bradley Ryan Fullmer is a major league baseball player who bats left handed and throws right handed. He was born January 17, 1975 in Chatsworth, California.

Fullmer last played at the Major League level during the 2004 season with the Texas Rangers.
singled to left, stole second and scored on Palmeiro's two-out single to right.

The Mariners, meantime, hacked away with considerable success against Washburn, amassing nine hits along with two walks in the first six innings. Not once was Washburn able to get the Mariners out in order. However, when he left with one out and one on in the sixth inning, he still had a 3-0 lead.

That was mostly the result of some inexplicable baserunning on the part of the Mariners, a little surprising considering they led the majors last year in steals with 174. But 39-year- old Edgar Martinez was thrown out trying to steal third with nobody out in the second inning. And, with one out in the first, Jeff Cirillo doubled off the wall in right-center but was thrown out trying to stretch it into a triple.

Baserunning came into play again in the seventh. Dan Wilson led off with a single, the fifth time in seven innings the Mariners got their leadoff batter aboard. Then, as reliever Donne Wall struck out Ichiro Suzuki, Wilson broke for second. Molina's throw was in front of the bag and skipped off the glove of shortstop David Eckstein, who was covering. But when Wilson tried to advance to third, he fell over Eckstein.

The Mariners argued that Eckstein was guilty of obstruction. No dice, the umpires ruled.
