ANGELS ACQUIRE FETTERS; ERSTAD, HOLLINS ON DL.

The Angels continued to make changes to their roster Monday, some by choice and others out of necessity.

 is expected to join the Angels today in Detroit, at which time they'll have to move somebody off the roster to make room for him.

It will be Fetters' second run with the Angels, having played for them in 1989-91 before being traded to Milwaukee for pitcher Chuck Crim
    Chuck Crim (born July 23, 1961 in Van Nuys, California). is a former Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher. The six foot, 185-pound right-hander went to school at the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
     after the 1991 season. He spent six seasons with the Brewers, his best season coming in 1996 when he was 3-3 with a 3.38 ERA and 32 saves.

    This season with the A's, Fetters was 1-6 with a 3.99 ERA and five saves in 48 games.

    The Angels also placed first baseman/outfielder Darin Erstad and infielder Dave Hollins on the disabled list. Erstad has a strained left hamstring and Hollins an inflamed right shoulder.

    Replacing Erstad and Hollins on the roster are first baseman Chris Pritchett and outfielder Reggie Williams, who were promoted from Triple-A Vancouver. Pritchett was hitting .264 with six homers and 39 RBI RBI

    In order to make room for Pritchett and Williams on the 40-man roster, the Angels designated Frank Bolick and Damon Mashore for assignment.

    Erstad had played in every game this season but hurt his hamstring beating out an infield hit against the Indians on Aug. 4. He's hitting .303 with 19 homers and 68 RBI. Hollins, who has been bothered by his shoulder since May, is hitting .242 with 11 homers and 39 RBI.

    In more encouraging news for the Angels, designated hitter Tim Salmon was named the American League player of the week after hitting .480 with four homers and nine RBI.

    ANGELS vs. DETROIT

    Time: 4:05 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.

    TV/Radio: Channel 9; KRLA-AM (1110), XPRS-AM (1090 Spanish).

    Matchup: Jeff Juden (0-0, 0.00) makes his Angels debut, facing the Tigers' Brian Moehler (12-8, 3.58). Juden, acquired from Milwaukee last week, was 7-11 with a 5.53 ERA with the Brewers this season.
