CENTER FIELD: B+

Darin Erstad is emotional leader of club and this year can back it up with numbers (.310, six homers, 51 RBI, 50 runs).

RIGHT FIELD: B-

Tim Salmon rebounded from last year and early this season to put himself on track to finish with his career averages of 30 homers and 100 RBI.

DESIGNATED HITTER: C

Schoeneweis (unless he becomes the reliever they need), IF Jose Nieves or IF Benji Gil (who play the same positions) and a growing surplus of quality minor-leaguers.

UPCOMING SERIES TO WATCH

vs. Seattle, July 19-21. Angels haven't played Mariners since April, when they lost six of seven to them.
