ANE Gas Buying Group Signs On For New Pipeline Capacity.BEVERLY, Mass. -- Alberta Northeast Gas Limited ("ANE"), a consortium of 13 local gas distribution companies in the US Northeast, and the largest importer of Canadian natural gas in the US Northeast, announced today that its member companies have executed binding agreements with TransCanada and with Union Gas to provide for natural gas pipeline transportation capacity that will give them direct access to the major natural gas sales and storage hub located in Dawn, Ontario. Known as the ANE II Project, the new direct access arrangements in Canada will reinforce the ability of local gas distribution companies ("LDCs") in New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut.
