:ADY), a newly public company pioneering access and management of information resources in client/server computing environments, today announced a major addition to its second product family, PaBLO.

The new product, PaBLO for Windows, which is expected to ship next month, is decision-support software that enables end-users to view and manipulate summarized data (such as total revenues per product) residing in corporate relational databases.

"For the first time, the corporate data warehouse can begin right on the desktop, and then grow seamlessly through large relational database systems," said A. Cameron Thompson, Andyne's president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . "No matter where the data is stored, access is always consistent for PaBLO users."

"With PaBLO, navigating through corporate data is simple for the end-user," said Ed Terpening, manager of Information Systems Tools & Technology for Cisco Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: CSCO CSCO Cisco Systems Incorporated (stock symbol)

code or the complexity of the data sources," Terpening explains. "Ease of use and the visual user-interface are compelling. The combination of PaBLO and GQL (Graphical Query Language) The former name of a family of query and reporting tools used to access databases on client/server systems from Hummingbird Ltd., Toronto, Ontario (www.hummingbird.com).  (Andyne's query and reporting tool) is very synergistic. They are the best one-two punch available for query-and-reporting and decision-support software," said Terpening.

Andyne PaBLO is the first end-user product to use HyperCube A parallel processing architecture made up of binary multiples of computers (4, 8, 16, etc.). The computers are interconnected so that data travel is kept to a minimum. For example, in two eight-node cubes, each node in one cube would be connected to the counterpart node in the other.  technology. HyperCubes are multidimensional data structures that enable Andyne PaBLO users to easily analyze data and produce complex tables, charts and reports incorporating the resulting analysis. HyperCubes can be created by the MIS department and maintained in relational databases, local servers and desktop computers. Andyne PaBLO features include an intuitive graphical user interface graphical user interface (GUI)

While the company's core product family, Andyne GQL, provides access to detailed data representing basic information, or transactions, in an organization -- such as invoices, employee information, inventory, and financial transactions -- the Andyne PaBLO product family, available on Apple Macintosh as well as Microsoft Windows platforms, provides access to summary information, such as total revenue by products, monthly staff counts, stock levels, and quarterly revenues.

Andyne's First Product Line: Andyne GQL

Andyne GQL is a family of powerful query and reporting software applications that provide a comprehensive solution for accessing and managing SQL database resources in a client/server environment. Andyne GQL is designed to be used on Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh and UNIX UNIX

Operating system for digital computers, developed by Ken Thompson of Bell Laboratories in 1969. It was initially designed for a single user (the name was a pun on the earlier operating system Multics).
Motif. Characterized by its visual approach, intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), and managed query environment, Andyne GQL gives end-users easy access to corporate database information while maintaining control of the organization's data. A managed query environment insulates the user from the technical details of data access, providing increased ease-of-use and broad functionality to end-users. This approach enables organizations to easily customize the application, thus suiting the needs of a wide range of industry segments, and providing information access to a much larger enterprise segment of end-users.

Being Developed, Andyne's Third Product Line: SGML-Based Textual Data Access

SGML SGML
in full Standard Generalized Markup Language

Markup language for organizing and tagging elements of a document, including headings, paragraphs, tables, and graphics.
(Standard Generalized Markup Language (language, text) Standard Generalized Markup Language - (SGML) A generic markup language for representing documents. SGML is an International Standard that describes the relationship between a document's content and its structure. ) is a data-description language designed for, but not limited to, describing the structure of textual data, so that organizations may exchange documents easily, manipulate and search them, put them to different uses with shared data or simply revise and reissue them with less effort.

It is estimated that documents now represent approximately 70 to 90 percent of the information resources of a typical enterprise. However, unlike the 10 to 30 percent of numerical information managed in relational databases, documents and the information contained within them have not benefitted significantly from the information-access advances made in database technologies.

SGML technology is one of the most important advances in making text more useful; it brings database capabilities to raw-text collection and manipulation. SGML technology strategically complements Andyne's existing product offerings -- including Andyne GQL and Andyne PaBLO software products for accessing, reporting and managing data -- and positions the company to broaden the range of solutions Andyne can offer for information access throughout an enterprise.

Andyne Computing Ltd. is a leader in the development, marketing and support of software applications that provide an easy-to-use visual interface for information access and reporting. The company's two principal products, Andyne GQL and Andyne PaBLO, exploit client/server computing technology to provide a Managed Query Environment (MQE MQE Managed Query Environment (Knowledge Management)

) for access by end-users of database information stored on server computers. Andyne's products are designed for use on major desktop operating systems (Microsoft Windows, Apple Macintosh and UNIX/Motif), relational databases (Oracle, Sybase and IBM DB2) and associated networking middleware.

The company's products are distributed worldwide through its direct sales force and select value-added resellers (VARs), OEMs and distributors. The company has licensed its software to more than 40,000 users at 2,500 large and medium-sized organizations in a wide variety of industries around the world.
