KINGSTON, Ontario, Canada--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 14, 1995-- Andyne Computing Ltd. (NASDAQ: ADYNF, TSE:ADY), a newly public company pioneering access and management of information resources in client/server computing environments, today announced a major addition to its second product family, PaBLO.

The new product, PaBLO for Windows, which is expected to ship next month, is decision-support software that enables end-users to view and manipulate summarized data (such as total revenues per product) residing in corporate relational databases.

Andyne PaBLO is the first end-user product to use HyperCube technology. HyperCubes are multidimensional data structures that enable Andyne PaBLO users to easily analyze data and produce complex tables, charts and reports incorporating the resulting analysis. HyperCubes can be created by the MIS department and maintained in relational databases, local servers and desktop computers. Andyne PaBLO features include an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), data navigator and view-builder tools for navigating through the data, information pivoting, user-defined calculations, report layout, drawing features and sorting capabilities.

While the company's core product family, Andyne GQL, provides access to detailed data representing basic information, or transactions, in an organization -- such as invoices, employee information, inventory, and financial transactions -- the Andyne PaBLO product family, available on Apple Macintosh as well as Microsoft Windows platforms, provides access to summary information, such as total revenue by products, monthly staff counts, stock levels, and quarterly revenues.

Being Developed, Andyne's Third Product Line: SGML-Based Textual Data Access

SGML (Standard Generalized Markup Language) is a data-description language designed for, but not limited to, describing the structure of textual data, so that organizations may exchange documents easily, manipulate and search them, put them to different uses with shared data or simply revise and reissue them with less effort.

It is estimated that documents now represent approximately 70 to 90 percent of the information resources of a typical enterprise. However, unlike the 10 to 30 percent of numerical information managed in relational databases, documents and the information contained within them have not benefitted significantly from the information-access advances made in database technologies.
