ANDY STRIPES IT LUCKY; TENNIS ACE TO SWAP FRED PERRY SHIRTS FOR: Star nets multi-million pound sportswear sponsorship deal.

TENNIS ace Andy Murray is ditching his famous Fred Perry Frederick John Perry (May 18, 1909 – February 2, 1995) born in Stockport, Cheshire. was an English tennis player and three-time Wimbledon champion. He was the World No.  gear for a pounds 3million-a-year sponsorship deal with German rivals Adidas.

The lucrative kit contract could double to an annual pounds 6million payout if world No.2 Murray climbs to the top of the rankings.

Murray camp insiders say the 22-yearold star picked Adidas after executives tabled an offer he could not refuse.

The sponsorship deal to sport the firm's famous three stripes will dwarf his on-court earnings, which reached pounds 2.25million last year.

A source said: "Nike don't allow sleeve sponsors, so that was one reason why the Adidas deal looked more attractive.

The Adidas deal is expected to be signed by Murray after the US Open, where he is seeded to meet Nadal in the semi-finals, en route to a possible confrontation with Wimbledon champ Federer in the final.

The contract is part of plans by Murray's agents at management firm 19 - owned by music mogul Simon Fuller - to turn the Scot into a global brand.

Fuller also manages David Beckham, who is also on Adidas' books. The firm are also expected to sign up the Scotland football team after the national side's supplier Diadora UK went bust.

From the tennis world, world No.4 Novak Djokovic is already sponsored by Adidas while legends Andre Agassi and Ilie Nastase, former British No.1 Tim Henman and Russian beauty Anna Kournikova also sported the brand.

Murray has worn Fred Perry gear since signing with them in 2004 but almost dumped them last year in favour of K-Swiss.

He ended up signing a one-year extension with Fred Perry, whose gear he modelled before Wimbledon.

He also brings in several million a year from deals with Highland Spring, RBS and racket sponsor Head.
