ANDREW MALONEY JOINS NEWS COMMUNICATIONS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 FRESH MEADOWS, N.Y., Sept. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- News Communications, Inc., (NASDAQ: NCOM) announced, effective today, that Andrew Maloney has been elected to the News Communications board of directors.
 Mr. Maloney, now a partner at the law firm of Brown & Wood, served from 1986 until December 1992 as U.S. Attorney for New York's Eastern District, where he oversaw the prosecution of organized crime, fraud, corruption and drug trafficking. He is best known for personally prosecuting the government's winning case against crime boss John Gotti, who is now serving a life sentence.
 A graduate of West Point and Fordham Law School, Maloney became U.S. Attorney after serving 12 years as an assistant U.S. Attorney in Manhattan.
 In making the announcement, News Communications Chairman Jerry Finkelstein, said, "Andy Maloney is one of our nation's top attorneys who brings incredible experience, talent and energy to our already outstanding board of directors."
