ANDREW'S FRENCH LESSONS; RUGBY UNION.


ROB ANDREW Christopher Robert Andrew, MBE, (born 18 February 1963 in Richmond, Yorkshire) nicknamed "Squeaky", is a former English rugby union footballer and currently Director of Elite Rugby at the RFU. He was formerly the Director of Rugby of Newcastle Falcons.  has admitted that Riki Flutey's shoulder injury has brought into sharp focus the problems England have with key players being based in France.

Flutey, 29, has been ruled out of England's November international campaign after aggravating a long-standing problem on his debut for French club Brive earlier this month.

The England medical team did not want Flutey to play against Clermont Auvergne last month but did not ultimately have the jurisdiction to remove him from the game.

When a similar situation occurred in the Guinness Premiership The Guinness Premiership is a professional league competition for rugby union football clubs in the top division of the English rugby system. There are, at present, twelve clubs in the Premiership.  last season regarding Paul Sackey Paul Henry Sackey (born 8 November 1979 in London) is an English rugby union footballer. He currently plays for the London Wasps in the English Guinness Premiership, and previously played for the London Irish. , England were able to request the winger did not play for Wasps.

England will continue to consider all France-based players for international selection, even if they do not have a full release agreement written into their contracts.

But with the 2011 World Cup looming at the end of next season, Andrew is monitoring the situation closely.

"We expressed very clearly our concerns a year ago as to how moving to France would impact on a player's international selection," said Andrew.

"We are monitoring just what impact this will have over the course of the season."
