Its name comes from the fact that there are two race tracks at the facility: a 1.549 mile oval (2.493 kilometers) and a 4.8 kilometer (2.983 miles) road course.  in Japan, and driver Tony Kanaan Antoine Rizkallah Kanaan Filho (born December 31, 1974) is a Brazilian race car driver of Lebanese Christian heritage from Salvador, Brazil. It opened in 1964, as the new home of major open-wheel racing in the Phoenix area, replacing the track at the Arizona State Fairgrounds as an automobile racing venue. .

Wheldon also won the poles in Japan and Phoenix.

The Andretti Green drivers, which include Valencia's Bryan Herta and Dario Franchitti, will be in Indianapolis for the entire month of May, preparing for the Indianapolis 500 on May 30.

Team owner Michael Andretti made his last start as a driver in the 2003 Indy 500. He now runs the four-driver Andretti Green Racing team with Kim Green.

``Since the moment I stepped out of the car in last year's 500, my focus has been on the ownership of Andretti Green Racing and winning my first Indy 500 as an owner,'' Andretti said. ``That's still my focus and I feel very good about where we are right now in terms of preparing for this year's race.''

The team has been impressive in its past two races. At Twin Ring Motegi, Honda had its first 1-2 finish in Japan, with Kanaan following Wheldon, who won the first race of his IRL career. Honda Performance Development is based in Santa Clarita.

``Honda has really stepped up its program and has been giving us everything we need to not only win but dominate the last two races,'' Andretti said. ``Those last two performances by Tony and Dan have us feeling very confident and have just made us hungrier for the 500.''

A major change to the cars will be implemented for the Indy 500. The cars will be powered by 3.0-liter engines instead of a 3.5-liter engine, which the IRL has been using up until now.

The Andretti Green Racing drivers started testing the new engines on April 28-29.

``We had a very good test in the XM Satellite Radio car,'' said Herta, a Hart High of Newhall graduate and driver of the No. 7 entry for Andretti Green Racing. ``We learned a lot about the aerodynamic changes and also about the new engines. Honda has done a great job in its development of the 3.0-liter engine. That is one of the great things about Andretti Green Racing; we have very good partners who provide us with the best equipment and give us a chance to win every time we go out on the track.''

But Hornaday had transmission problems in last year's race at Gateway and finished 28th.

``It's just a fun track,'' said Hornaday, a former Saugus Speedway champ from Palmdale. ``It has an odd shape, kind of like Darlington (S.C.). It is a flat track that you drive almost like a road course. You can really drive hard into the corners and then brake, shift and get back in the gas. I have always been good at tracks like that. I have also had transmission problems at Gateway as well. I know that the guys back at the shop have worked hard to build the toughest transmission they can for me here. I really think if we had not had the problem last year, we would have won the race. It was one of the best cars I had all year.''
