ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 5, 2001

Multiple products on a "single platform" product strategy

solves carriers' need to provide voice service today

and enhanced data services tomorrow

SuperComm (Booth No. 310D)--ANDA Networks, a leading provider of next-generation access infrastructure equipment, today announced the launch of its multiple products on a single platform product evolution strategy. Building on its flagship platform, the Universal Access Platform 2000(TM) (UAP UAP Unstable Angina Pectoris

Networks is continuing to enhance its offering to meet market demand for voice services and incremental migration to advanced data services.

At the center of ANDA Networks' product strategy are two product lines that together converge narrowband and broadband at two critical edges of the network: the gateway platform and the multi-service access platform (MSAP (MultiService Access Platform) An integration device located on a carrier's premises that supports a variety of protocols. It acts like a central switch between all of the customer's communications technologies and the carrier side, which is the PSTN, the ). The gateway platform addresses network bottlenecks from the backbone to the central office while the MSAP addresses network bottlenecks from the co-location facilities to the central office. ANDA Networks' two new product lines are built on a single architecture, and allow carriers to immediately offer toll-quality voice services, while progressively migrating to advanced data and converged voice and data services. ANDA Networks enables a smooth, cost-effective transition from today's prevalent TDM (Time Division Multiplexing) A technology that transmits multiple signals simultaneously over a single transmission path. Each lower-speed signal is time sliced into one high-speed transmission.  protocol to next-generation services, and complies with open standards Specifications for hardware and software that are developed by a standards organization or a consortium involved in supporting a standard. Available to the public for developing compliant products, open standards imply "open systems;" that an existing component in a system can be replaced  while supporting value-added voice services such as caller ID A telephone company service that sends the caller's telephone number between the first and second ring of the call. If the calling number is not blocked, the calling number is displayed on the handset or base station of the called party.  and last number redial In telecommunication, an automatic redial is a service feature that allows the user to dial, by depressing a single key or a few keys, the most recent telephone number dialed at that instrument. .

According to research firm Infonetics Research, the market for service provider equipment remains vibrant. In its most recent study, Infonetics Research reported that service provider core and edge hardware totaled $3.9 billion in 1Q01. The firm forecasted that sales of network equipment to telecom service providers will reach $16.9 billion for the 2001 year.(1)

"The last several months have demonstrated that carriers in today's economic climate want network products that respond to existing revenue-generating opportunities," said Charles Kenmore, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of ANDA Networks. "For carriers who need to augment their voice services today, contain their operating costs and still be prepared to take advantage of next-generation technology in the near future, ANDA Networks is a leading choice." ANDA Networks' solution integrates the functionality of several systems into one platform to provide an easier, less expensive solution to manage.

Key features include:

-- Remote provisioning using ANDA Networks' Open Provisioning System (OPS Ops (ŏps), in Roman religion, goddess of harvests. She was the wife of Saturn, by whom she bore Jupiter and Juno. At her festivals, the Opiconsivia and the Opalia, held in August and December, respectively, she was worshiped as a goddess of sowing ).

-- Highest port density in its class: 240 ports per chassis, which is more than twice that of the closest alternative, allowing carriers to service more customers with less capital expenditure.

-- With 8 interfaces, the ANDA Networks solution has the most interfaces shipping in its class.
-- High product reliability, speed and quality of execution.

-- ANDA touches copper, adding flexibility and reducing costs for

carrier customers.

-- A nine-to-one cost savings over conventional central office access configurations because it uses switch expansion bays and digital access cross connects (DACs).

Gateway Platform

The Gateway Platform, the first major release within the UAP 2000(TM) family, is a fully managed, carrier-class voice and data gateway with advanced traffic management capabilities. The product currently includes:

-- Voice gateway (TDM, GR303)

-- Voice over ATM gateway (AAL (ATM Adaption Layer) The part of the ATM protocol that breaks up application packets into 48-byte payloads which become ATM cells when the 5-byte headers are attached. The AAL resides between the higher layer transport protocols and the ATM layer. 1, AAL2)

-- Converged voice and data services (AAL5, IPoATM)

ANDA Networks is currently developing:

-- Expanded services, including VoIP and packet over optical

-- Media gateway with softswitch support

Multi-Service Remote Access Platform (MSAP)

The multi-service remote access platform brings:

-- ATM backhaul for remote services

-- Next-generation DSLAM/DLC

-- Additional interfaces (T1, T3, ADSL See DSL.

ADSL - Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line
, HDSL See DSL.

HDSL - High bit-rate Digital Subscriber Line
2,G.sHDSL, POTS, T1/IMA)

-- IP aggregation (in the future)

ANDA will incorporate new features such as optical this year with plans to incorporate voice-over-IP next year. ANDA Networks recently announced the formation of ANDA-Wuhan, which brings leading fiber-optic expertise to the company's technology base. In addition, ANDA has entered into a strategic partnership with Korea's OPICOM Co, Ltd. to produce advanced VoDSL products for the international market. And most recently, the company has partnered with RAD Data Communications RAD Data Communications (also known as "RAD") is a privately held corporation, based in Tel Aviv, Israel, that designs and manufacturers specialized networking equipment. It was founded in 1981 by Zohar Zisapel and his brother, Yehuda.  to produce a converged solution for TDM and IP services. This solution is considered the first of its kind that allows customers to offer traditional TDM voice service with associated signaling that transparently extends key protocols SS7, 911E and GR303 to an IP network.
