"(Today) will be the start of a recovery," Van Cor said.

Before the weather system diverted to the south, enough rain fell this week to push totals to nearly normal for the season thus far. At the Ventura County Government Center, rainfall for the season that started Oct. 1 totaled 10.24 inches as of 8 a.m. Wednesday, just shy of the normal reading of 10.85 inches.

MacDonald said Richard Schaub, 31, of Ventura, was driving a Jeep Cherokee that became involved in the accident, and he complained of neck and back pain after the accident.

According to the county flood control office, rain totals in the county for the 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. Wednesday ranged from 2.6 inches in Fillmore to 1.14 inches in Port Hueneme.

Rainfall for the period totaled 1.74 inches in Simi Valley and 1.49 inches in Thousand Oaks.

About 1.98 inches of rain fell at the Ventura County Government Center.
