ANC Reorganizes Executive Staff; Ramaekers Appointed President and COO; Beard, President, North America, Alamo and National Steps Down.

ANC Rental Corporation (Nasdaq:ANCX) today announced appointment of Lawrence J. Ramaekers as president and chief operating officer, ANC Rental Corporation. Simultaneously, ANC announced that Karen Beard has stepped down as president, North America, Alamo and National.

Lawrence J. Ramaekers, who joined ANC last month as a consultant, has specialized in corporate turnarounds for the past 25 years. In 1992-1995, Ramaekers served as President and Chief Operating Officer of National Car Rental, during which period he helped revive the company and position it as a quality-oriented, revenue-driven organization.

Previously, Ramaekers has served as CEO of United Companies Financial Corporation, CEO of Family Restaurants, Inc., CEO of Umbro International, Inc., CEO of Centennial Technologies, Inc. and CEO of Medical Resources, Inc. Ramaekers has also served as an advisor to numerous public and non-public companies.

Nationally recognized for his accomplishments, Ramaekers was recently honored as the first recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Turnaround Management Association, the trade organization representing corporate turnaround professionals worldwide.
