 ANALYTICAL SURVEYS AWARDED NEW MAPPING CONTRACTS;
 NAMES NEW VICE PRESIDENT OF PROJECT MANAGEMENT
 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., April 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Analytical Surveys, Inc. (NASDAQ: ANLT) announced today that it has been awarded several new mapping contracts which total more than $1.4 million. These contracts bring the company's backlog to a new all-time high of approximately $11.4 million.
 The contracts call for a variety of services to be performed by Analytical Surveys. The company will develop parcel maps for the City of Mobile, Ala.; scan and vectorize existing maps for R.R. Donnelley and Sons; perform planimetric mapping of the Iowa Illinois Gas & Electric service area for Intelligraphics International and similar mapping services for the City of Omaha, Neb.; and conduct aerial photography and ground surveys for the Planning District Commission of Central Virginia which includes four counties.
 The Mobile and Omaha projects are new phases of earlier contracts. The other contracts are with new clients for Analytical Surveys.

 Analytical Surveys also announced today that it has named Raymond R. Mann as vice president of project management. Mann brings over 10 years of experience in digital mapping, public works and general GIS to the company. He will be responsible for managing Analytical Surveys' project management team with emphasis on fulfilling the company's commitment to superior client service.
 Mann served as manager of automated mapping and geographic information systems for James M. Montgomery, Consulting Engineers, Inc. before joining Analytical Surveys. He was responsible for the development and administration of geographic information systems for national and international clients. He has extensive project management experience including direct project management of a single $4 million- plus automation project.
 Previously, Mann served as director of public works for the Municipality of Anchorage, Alaska, where he managed engineering, street maintenance, building safety and maintenance support divisions. Mann also served as director of property and facility management, and as property management officer for Anchorage before becoming director of public works. Prior to joining the Municipality of Anchorage, Mann served as land management officer for the Department of Natural Resources in Alaska.
