ANAHEIM -- The best team in the Western Conference?

Statistically, it's the Ducks who are first in the NHL's overall standings as well as the Pacific Division. But the Central Division-leading Nashville Predators The Nashville Predators are a professional ice hockey team based in Nashville, Tennessee. Well, the stats didn't lie Wednesday night in a showdown between the two top teams in the West, as the Ducks got a pair of goals from Teemu Selanne, a four-point game from Chris Kunitz Chris Kunitz (born September 26, 1979 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada) is a professional ice hockey left wing who currently plays for the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL. Coming in with a Western Conference-best 11 road victories, Nashville figured to be more than capable of handing the Ducks their first back- to-back regulation losses of the season. That the Ducks had put in three sub-par periods in their weekend split with the Kings seemed to give credence to the possibility.

But none of it came to fruition as the Ducks rebounded with a solid effort, outhitting, outskating and, ultimately, outscoring the Paul Kariya-led Predators, who have lost four straight and five of six to Anaheim.

``Every time we have a big test, we have done great,'' Selanne said.

``This was very important. The last game we didn't play well. It was nice to bounce back and give a full 60 minutes.''

Selanne and Ryan Getzlaf Ryan Getzlaf (born May 10, 1985 in Regina, Saskatchewan) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player currently playing for the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League.  -- two of the hottest Anaheim scorers -- gave the Ducks all the offense they really needed, and Kunitz broke out of a seven-game slump -- in which he had produced just one goal -- with a late power-play tally and assists on the three other goals.

Nashville managed just 21shots against Giguere, and Kariya, who was booed every time he touched the puck and was jeered after taking a holding penalty that led to Kunitz's goal, once again did nothing against his former club.
