a recent Ericsson announcement, the GF 788 GSM phone is the smallest, most sophisticated GSM mobile phone on the market, delivering three hours of talk time and 60 hours of standby time. The phone is designed to fit in the palm of the hand. The integration of the ANADIGICS power amplifier into the GF 788 phones is part of ANADIGICS' ongoing relationship with Ericsson, the third largest cellular phone manufacturer in the world.

Ericsson has selected ANADIGICS' GSM Power Amplifier to support this new compact, digital, GSM advanced mobile phone, citing ANADIGICS' reliability and low cost, high volume commercial manufacturing capability. Ericsson currently holds 25% to 30% of the total phone market for the GSM digital telephone standard, and is experiencing continued demand for GSM products. Sales of the GF 788 have already reached 200,000 since its introduction in March 1997.

for Ericsson's GF 788 GSM phones as part of our continued support of Ericsson," said Ron Rosenzweig, President and Chief Executive Officer of ANADIGICS. "This order represents our ongoing efforts to broaden both our presence in the cellular market and our line of products for the GSM standard. The GSM market is the largest worldwide segment of the cellular market. Not only is the AWT0908 another major product for ANADIGICS, it also is the first 4.8V GSM GaAs IC power amplifier on the market. This lower voltage device allows for smaller, lighter and more efficient GSM phones."

"ANADIGICS has played an important role in providing power amplifiers for our new GF 788 handset, the smallest GSM handset on the market today," said Mats Lindoff, Director and General Manager, R&D, Ericsson. "ANADIGICS continues to be an extremely valuable partner for Ericsson in supplying state-of-the-art power amplifiers for our cellular and PCS (1) (Personal Communications Services) Refers to wireless services that emerged after the U.S. government auctioned commercial licenses in 1994 and 1995. ANADIGICS consistently demonstrates the ability to support our next generation products with outstanding engineering and research and development."

ANADIGICS' AWT0908 single supply GSM power amplifier MMIC (Monolithic Microwave IC) An integrated circuit used in high-frequency applications such as mobile phones. Also known as "monolithic microwave/millimeter-wave IC," MMICs combine transistors and passive devices (resistors, capacitors, etc.  provides a size and performance advantage over alternative solutions available on the market today. With 149 operators in more than 100 countries, the GSM standard is the largest and most widely adopted digital cellular telephone market worldwide.

Ericsson's 90,000 employees are active in more than 130 countries. Their combined expertise in fixed and mobile networks, mobile phones and infocom systems makes Ericsson the world-leading supplier in telecommunications.

ANADIGICS, Inc. is a leading supplier of gallium arsenide An alloy of gallium and arsenic compound (GaAs) that is used as the base material for chips. Several times faster than silicon, it is used in high frequency applications such as cellphones, DVD players and fiber optics.  integrated circuits (GaAs ICs) used to receive and transmit radio and microwave frequency signals in a variety of high-volume consumer communications applications. The Company primarily focuses on supplying integrated circuit integrated circuit (IC), electronic circuit built on a semiconductor substrate, usually one of single-crystal silicon. The circuit, often called a chip, is packaged in a hermetically sealed case or a nonhermetic plastic capsule, with leads extending from it for  solutions to the wireless communication, cable television, fiber optic telecommunications, and direct broadcast satellite television markets. ANADIGICS' objective is to be the leading supplier of RF/microwave solutions using GaAs ICs. To date, ANADIGICS, Inc. has delivered over 60 million GaAs ICs and was the first GaAs IC manufacturer to receive ISO (1) See ISO speed.
