The ATA01504 is sold in die form enabling designers to work in a TO-46 type header. "Because there is a choice of input and output pads, designers are able to orient the die within their package to minimize bondwire lengths, and avoid crossing bond wires. This die can now accommodate a wide range of packages including the popular TO package," said Dan Trepanier, ANADIGICS Sales Manager, Fiber Optic Products.

"Currently, designers have to place a ceramic substrate in the TO-header, which not only represents an extra step in the design process, but also can be costly," Trepanier said. "The ATA01504 can be mounted on the bottom of the TO package eliminating the need for a ceramic substrate."

With the low noise ATA01504, -38 dBm or better optical sensitivity is achieved. Other features include automatic gain control, single +5 volt power supply, 0 dBm optical overload typical, and wide dynamic range.

The ATA01504 AGC TIA is the first of a series of TO-Friendly TIAs. It is available at $6 in quantities of 10,000.

The amplifiers are manufactured at the company's state-of-the-art facility in New Jersey, and are 100% tested at DC and RF before shipping.
