ANA Tech Eagle scanners now available on Silicon Graphics workstations.

LITTLETON, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 3, 1995--ANA Tech, an Intergraph division, Tuesday announced the availability of its full line of Eagle large format, production volume scanners on workstations from Silicon Graphics, Inc. (SGI (SGI, Sunnyvale, CA, www.sgi.com) A manufacturer of workstations and servers, founded in 1982 by Jim Clark. The company was founded as Silicon Graphics, Inc., but changed to its acronym in 1999. ).

ANA Tech Director of Marketing Gerald Kasten, the Eagle scanners take full advantage of the SGI workstations in handling a broad range of graphic information. Large format scanned documents typically contain millions of pixels; therefore, fast workstations like those from Silicon Graphics offer faster processing, as well as faster scanning workflows, Kasten said.

ANA Techs scanner family includes the Eagle 3640 and 4080ET black and white models, featuring true resolutions of 400 and 800 dots per inch (dpi). The companys 24 bit RGB color Typically refers to 24-bit color. All models provide variable resolution and on-board On board usually means to be traveling on some vehicle. For example, Baby On Board. Compare with overboard.

Metaphorically, the term on-board is often used to refer to some piece of technology that is integrated in a moving vehicle, for example:

The black and white units feature a variety of thresholding options to control real time conversion of grayscale In computing, a grayscale or greyscale digital image is an image in which the value of each pixel is a single sample. Displayed images of this sort are typically composed of shades of gray, varying from black at the weakest intensity to white at the strongest, though in  data captured by the scanning engine into line art output data. The Eagle color scanners provide on-board, real time color classification.

According to Kasten, a range of software utilities are available to allow SGI workstations to control the link to ANA Tech scanners. A/SCAN (for black and white scanners) and A/SCAN-C (for color scanners) scanner control software feature industry- standard file formats, as well as full control over all scanner functions.
