Within public view; in public. smooches shared by Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in ``Mr. & Mrs. Smith'' apparently pale in comparison to the lip-locking shared by Jake Gyllenhaal and Heath Ledger in ``Brokeback Mountain,'' according to the voters of the 2006 MTV MTV in full Music Television U.S. cable television network, established in 1980 to present videos of musicians and singers performing new rock music. MTV won a wide following among rock-music fans worldwide and greatly affected the popular-music business. Movie Awards. Gyllenhaal accepts the gold trophy, shaped like a bucket of popcorn, and calls winning for a same-sex kiss ``a big deal.'' ``I said to Heath after the scene filmed, `If we don't win the MTV Award for best kiss, it wasn't worth it,'' he says to wild applause. ``It's worth it now; it's definitely worth it now. It's a real honor that you picked this movie and this kiss over all the other ones.'' Spike Lee receives the Silver Bucket of Excellence Award for his 1989 film ``Do the Right Thing,'' which was recognized for having a lasting effect on moviegoers and the MTV audience, and injects a dose of sobering reality into the proceedings. ``The sad thing is,'' he says, ``the (racial) issues we tried to address with `Do the Right Thing' are still with us today, so how much progress have we made?''
