There's going to be gambling at the "mayor's" house!

Cool it, scandalmongers. Nancy Cartwright is actually the honorary mayor of the north San Fernando Valley. And Saturday night's Monte Carlo night at the actress's Northridge home is not only legal, it's for a cause: namely the Police Activities League Supporters (PALS) youth center for at risk youth.

Best-known as the voice of reprobate Bart Simpson on Fox's "The Simpsons," Cartwright supports numerous L.A. nonprofit organizations many of which benefit children. While not much of a gamer herself, the 50-year-old mother of two loves to throw parties. And she very much hopes that the soiree will go a long way toward helping PALS meet its $2.3 million goal to build a permanent youth center.

You're hosting your second Monte Carlo night party, and you don't play?

I play a little. I like hosting parties, though. I'll be the hostess with the mostest, flitting around like a butterfly on Speed.

How many guests have you hosted in the past?

I've had 500. I used to throw outrageous 4th of July parties with another family before I remodeled, and one year I had about 500 coming and going all day.

I remodeled the house a couple of years ago, and I had fundraising activities in mind as I was working with the designer on the layout. It's one acre, and every space is utilized, not only for this, but for all my parties.

Who's going to be there?

Danny and Chris Masterson, Brad Garrett, Camryn Manheim. Laura Prepon, Bruce Davison and some celebrity poker players. Even if you don't play, for $250 you get fed really well. You get to rub elbows with celebs and get some photos taken for a great cause.

Can you talk about your history with PALS? How did you hook up with the organization?

I had been living here about eight years. I had observed the community, but I wasn't contributing or doing anything. I lived here. I had a nice home and was raising two kids, and I thought, "I've got to get involved in the community," so I took it upon myself to go to a chamber of commerce meeting. I had a meeting with (president and CEO) Wayne Adelstein. They chatted about their personal mission statements and goals and it seemed like a perfect match. I work with kids and travel around universities and do motivational speeches all around the world. Since I'm a performer and entertainer and am known as Bart Simpson, they thought it would be a good idea for me to meet the president of PALS.

I came on board, and their pet project is the youth center. We had been working together for a number of years, and we had earned $1 million, but we were still pretty far from our goal. So we said "let's do this thing (the first Monte Carlo night in 2006)." I had never thrown a party of this magnitude before on my property.

If Bart were given the keys, what kind of a bash would he throw?

Bart would have everything he could. He'd have the moon bounce and the slippery slides. He'd have all the guys come dressed as pirates and make them walk the plank. He'd put a two-by-four across the swimming pool and have snapping dogs in the pool or something.
