AMY GRANT CHRISTMAS SINGLE IS FREE AT TARGET
WITH PURCHASE OF NEW CHRISTMAS ALBUM
MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- International superstar Amy Grant has recorded a new song just for Target Stores. Released in October, it's called "Let the Season Take Wing" and is being given away as a single to anyone who buys her new Christmas album at a Target store, while the supply lasts.
According to Grant, the new song is a sign of her appreciation for the wonderful partnership that has developed since 1991 when Target sponsored her 80-city tour. "At Christmas, you want to do something special for your friends and that's how I felt when I recorded this song. 'Let the Season Take Wing' is a beautiful song and I know people will enjoy it," she said.
There is great anticipation for her new Christmas album. "Amy Grant, Home for Christmas" comes 10 years after the release of "Amy Grant, A Christmas Album," her only other collection of Christmas recordings. Since its release, her first album has sold in volumes comparable to Christmas recordings by Nat King Cole and Bing Crosby. "Amy Grant, Home for Christmas" also comes on the heels of "Heart in Motion," an album that received five Grammy nominations in 1991 and sold more than five million copies.
Grant recorded Robert Irving and Kevin Quinn's "Let the Season Take Wing" for Target at the same time she was making her new Christmas album. The rhythm track was recorded in Los Angeles. The strings section of the song was recorded in England with the London Philharmonic 62-piece orchestra, and her voice was recorded from her studio in Nashville.
"Let the Season Take Wing" is also the theme planned for holiday promotions at Target this season and will be introduced Thanksgiving weekend with two national television commercials, also featuring Amy Grant singing a little bit of Target's song. The message in the commercials is that a full-length recording of "Let the Season Take Wing" will be included with purchase of her Christmas album, when the selection is made at Target.
Minneapolis-based Target Stores is an upscale discount department store chain of 508 stores in 32 states coast to coast and is the largest division of Dayton Hudson Corporation, one of the nation's leading retailers.
