AMWAY DONATES CLEANING PRODUCTS TO VICTIMS OF MIDWEST FLOODS

ADA, Mich., July 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Amway has donated a truckload of SA8 Laundry Concentrate and L.O.C. Multi-Purpose Cleaner to flood relief efforts in the Midwest.
Amway's donation of nearly 10,000 bottles and 24 drums of cleaners was made to International Aid, a nondenominational, Christian agency based in Spring Lake, Mich. International Aid will transport the Amway donation along with items donated by other West Michigan companies to relief agencies in Des Moines, Iowa, and St. Louis, on Tuesday, July 20.
In addition to food and water, flood relief agencies have requested donations of cleaning supplies to help victims recover from the worst flooding on the Mississippi this century. SA8 and L.O.C., two of Amway's most popular products, are concentrated to provide more uses per package than comparable products and are biodegradable.
Last year, Amway's cleaning products were similarly donated as part of the relief efforts for Hurricane Andrew victims.
Sales of $3.9 billion at estimated retail for the fiscal year ended Aug. 31, 1992, make Amway the largest network marketing company in the world. More than 2 million independent Amway distributors in 60 countries and territories market over 400 items carrying the Amway name in such fields as home care, personal care, hometech, health and fitness, and commercial lines. Additionally, Amway distributors market 5,000 brand-name goods through the PERSONAL SHOPPERS(R) Catalog plus a variety of services and educational products.
