AMVAC CHEMICAL CORP. GRANTED EXTENSION BY EPA FOR SALE AND USE OF PHOSDRIN.LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 23, 1995--American Vanguard Corp. (NASDAQ:AMGD AMGD - Acromesomelic Dysplasia, Grebe Type) today announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Amvac Chemical Corp. has reached an agreement with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency ("EPA") to extend the distribution, sale and use of mevinphos (marketed by Amvac under the name Phosdrin) in the United States through November 30, 1995. After November 30th, Amvac will recall any Phosdrin remaining in the marketplace. Previously, Amvac had agreed to stop selling Phosdrin in December 1994 and to recall the product after February 28, 1995. Eric G. Wintemute, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Vanguard Corp., commented, "We are very pleased with this decision by the EPA to extend the domestic sale and use period for Phosdrin. We believe this extension will allow for a significantly greater depletion of Phosdrin in the market by the recall date, which is in keeping with the EPA's stated policy and desire to deplete the stocks of canceled products as much as possible prior to recall."
