One passenger on the train suffered an anxiety attack after the collision, but she was evaluated and stayed on the Santa Barbara-bound train, Amtrak spokeswoman Vernae Graham said.
Chatsworth resident Mike Kovak said he was driving on Lassen when he saw the driver of the tractor-trailer rig trying to reverse back into a parking lot near the tracks. The gates came down, he said, trapping the big rig on the tracks.
``He just couldn't get it over the tracks fast enough,'' Kovak said.
``When the train hit, the trailer flew and dragged the cab behind. It look like it exploded.''
