Eaton Corporation's (NYSE: ETN) Trucking Information Services Division (TISD) announced today that AMT Freight, Inc. of Battle Creek, MI (a subsidiary of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines  of Tokyo, Japan) has selected the Eaton(R) Fleet Advisor(R) System.

Fleet Advisor, a unique combination of on-board computing, mobile communications, GPS and back-office networking capabilities, is the trucking industry's most complete transportation logistics management solution.

AMT, a Truckload (TL) fleet, plans to use the system's features to immediately enhance and reward driver performance, improve vehicle productivity and increase its' competitive advantage in the marketplace. Fleet Advisor's TL-oriented features include fast, affordable satellite-based mobile communications, integral global positioning system, completely paperless on-board electronic logs, paperless fuel tax recording, trip recording, real-time wireless communications and enterprise-wide software networking including applications interface to fleet dispatch software.

Fleet Advisor's touch-screen on-board computer will give AMT's drivers the power to easily and quickly record and send the information necessary for the improvement of AMT's operation. And in addition to driver input, the on-board computer will constantly and seamlessly record engine and vehicle data (such as speeding, braking and idle times) that AMT requires for their cost-saving preventative maintenance program.

The information that drivers collect is sent to a dedicated Windows NT-based PC (known as Ground Support Stations or GSS) at the fleet's dispatch location using Fleet Advisor's integrated satellite communications. AMT fleet managers can also use the integrated global positioning system to track vehicle locations on the GSS and facilitate the dynamic re-routing of vehicles -- whenever necessary.

The GSS immediately displays reports that AMT's managers can use to make on-the-spot decisions. The GSS offers a full client/server system that makes it possible for AMT to route information throughout the company using their internal Wide Area Network (WAN) and Local Area Network (LAN).
