In 1963, Princess Anne co. and the former small town of Virginia Beach were merged, giving the present city an area of 302 sq mi (782 sq km). , Va., is being awarded a $92,893,085 indefinite-delivery and indefinite-quantity, cost-plus-fixed-fee, multiple award contract for engineering and technical services for alteration installations, engineering research, design, computer programming and logistics on hull, mechanical, electrical and electronics systems onboard U.S. Navy ships. Work will be performed in Norfolk, Va. (30 percent); San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay.  (30 percent); Mayport, Fla. (10 percent); Pascagoula, Miss. (six percent); Groton, Conn. (five percent); Bath, Maine (five percent); Kings Bay, Ga. (three percent); Yokosuka, Japan (three percent); Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (two percent); Ingleside, Texas (two percent); Newport News, Va. (two percent); Bremerton, Wash. (one percent); and Bahrain (one percent); and is to be completed by December 2007. Contract funds in the amount of $500,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via the Commerce Business Daily and on the Naval Surface Warfare Center Noun 1.
