AMSC Names New Chief Financial Officer.

WESTBOROUGH, Mass. -- American Superconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: AMSC), a leading energy technologies company, today announced the selection of David A. Henry for the position of Chief Financial Officer, effective July 9, 2007. Henry will replace Thomas M. Rosa, who has notified the company that he will be resigning to pursue other business opportunities. Mr. Rosa will remain with AMSC as a consultant for an interim period after July 9 to assist with the transition process.

Henry, 45, brings to AMSC nearly 25 years of finance, accounting and business planning experience, including more than a dozen years of management experience at public companies. Since 2004, he has served as chief financial officer of AMIS Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMIS), the parent company of AMI Semiconductor. With nearly 3,000 employees globally and more than $600 million in 2006 revenues, AMIS is a manufacturer of custom analog and mixed signal semiconductor solutions for the automotive, medical and industrial markets. Among other accomplishments at AMIS, Henry helped increase the company's profits, supported growth through the completion and integration of four acquisitions, managed finance and accounting for global operations, and completed a $200 million public stock offering. For the previous seven years, he held senior finance roles at Fairchild Semiconductor International (NYSE: FCS), a manufacturer of high-performance power semiconductor products. Henry also previously served as a finance director at National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE: NSM). He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from University of California, Berkeley and an M.B.A. from Santa Clara University.

As CFO, Senior Vice President and Treasurer of AMSC, Henry will oversee the company's finance, accounting, internal audit, information technologies and investor relations functions.
