AMS Announces IBM UniVerse as the Database for Sagitta.

Insurance software developer, AMS AMS - Andrew Message System  Services, Inc. and IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries)  Corporation announce an agreement to migrate the database of AMS's Sagitta management system product to IBM's UniVerse(R) extended relational database relational database

Database in which all data are represented in tabular form. The description of a particular entity is provided by the set of its attribute values, stored as one row or record of the table, called a tuple.
. The migration will take place in a phased process beginning in the third quarter of 2003. Because of the similarities to Sagitta's existing database, the migration will be virtually seamless to Sagitta users, similar to a normal periodic database upgrade.

AMS is moving Sagitta to UniVerse for several reasons - most importantly because of IBM and the work they are doing jointly with Microsoft to further develop XML XML
 in full Extensible Markup Language.

Markup language developed to be a simplified and more structural version of SGML. It incorporates features of HTML (e.g., hypertext linking), but is designed to overcome some of HTML's limitations.
 Web Services specifications. This work will enable the continued growth and strength of Sagitta.
