) has agreed to a new four-year contract with the International Chemical Workers Union Council of the United Food and Commercial Workers The United Food and Commercial Workers International Union is a labor union representing approximately 1.4 million workers in the United States and Canada in many industries, including agriculture, health care, meatpacking, poultry and food processing, manufacturing, textile and  Union Local 61-C. The contract covers chemical operators and maintenance technicians at AMRI's large scale manufacturing facility in Rensselaer, New York Rensselaer is a city in Rensselaer County, New York, U.S., located on the Hudson River, directly opposite Albany. As of the 2000 census, the city population was 7,761; in 1920, it was 10,832.  

The new contract, which runs through January 10, 2011, provides for wage increases, benefit plan updates and operational effectiveness considerations. The contract was ratified by the union on December 23, 2006. The previous contract was set to expire in January 2007.
