AMREP reports first quarter results.NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 1995--AMREP Corp. (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :AXR AXR Absolute Executive Recruitment (Sydney, NSW, Australia) AXR Abdominal X-Ray ), builder of new communities and international provider of magazine publisher services, today announced results for the first quarter ended July 31, 1995. Revenues for the first quarter rose 14 percent to $40,922,000 versus $35,755,000 for the same period last year. Net income was $781,000 or $0.11 per share as compared to $1,010,000 or $.14 per share for the comparable period last year. Revenues of Kable News Company, AMREP's publisher services subsidiary, increased by 45 percent, due in large part to the addition of the business acquired from Fulfillment Corp. of America in January 1995. At the same time, net income was lower because efficiencies being introduced by Kable to FCA's former operations were not yet fully implemented. Kable is now the third largest fulfillment company in the country. The company noted that AMREP's revenues from the home building operation in the first quarter increased by 9 percent over the prior year's quarter and earnings improved due to production strategies and efficiencies introduced last fiscal year. Commercial land sale revenue was below that of the prior year's first quarter. At a meeting yesterday, AMREP's Board of Directors named two outside directors to its Executive Committee which had formerly been comprised only of senior officer/directors and designated the Committee to oversee management's operations and affairs while Anthony B Anthony B is the stage name of Keith Blair (born March 31, 1976), a Jamaican musician.
