AMR Inc. Moves Into Southern California Market With Four Acquisitions.

:EMT See Efficient markets theory. ) today announced it has acquired four ambulance service companies in Southern California.

The agreement includes three Los Angeles County providers: Adams Ambulance Services Inc. of South Gate; AME See AIT.  Ambulance in Whittier; and Risher Ambulance Service Inc. in Montebello. In San Bernardino County, AMR (1) (Adaptive Multi-Rate) A variable rate speech codec selected by the 3GPP for the 3G evolution of the GSM cellphone system (WCDMA). Using the Algebraic CELP (ACELP) compression technology, AMR provides toll quality sound at transmission rates from 4.75 to 12.  Inc. acquired Courtesy Services of San Bernardino Inc.

Terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed.

The four companies will become part of American Medical Response American Medical Response, Inc. (AMR) is the largest private ambulance provider in the United States. AMR and EmCare are wholly owned subsidiaries of EMSC L.P., an emergency management company held by the investment firm Onex. AMR is based out of Greenwood Village, Colorado.  West, a subsidiary of AMR Inc.

"These four key acquisitions will establish a significant beachhead in the populous Southern California market," said Paul Shirley, chief executive officer of American Medical Response Inc. "This market holds substantial opportunities to form partnerships with managed care organizations and governmental entities."

American Medical Response West, headquartered in Fremont, Calif., now operates in 28 California counties, the three Hawaiian Islands that make up the County of Maui and parts of Oregon and Washington State.
