AMR Inc. Moves Into Southern California Market With Four Acquisitions.FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 1, 1996--American Medical Response Inc. The agreement includes three Los Angeles County providers: Adams Ambulance Services Inc. of South Gate; AME See AIT. Ambulance in Whittier; and Risher Ambulance Service Inc. in Montebello. In San Bernardino County, AMR (1) (Adaptive Multi-Rate) A variable rate speech codec selected by the 3GPP for the 3G evolution of the GSM cellphone system (WCDMA). Using the Algebraic CELP (ACELP) compression technology, AMR provides toll quality sound at transmission rates from 4.75 to 12. Inc. acquired Courtesy Services of San Bernardino Inc. Terms of the acquisitions were not disclosed. The four companies will become part of American Medical Response American Medical Response, Inc.
