AMQUEST announces first V.34 modem sound card with Internet videoconferencing bundle.


LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 11, 1996--Monday AMQUEST(TM) Corp., a PC enhancement company, announced that its COMMANDO(TM) multi-function modem/sound card now includes software to perform videoconferencing over ordinary phone lines and the Internet.

Users can simultaneously talk and transmit full color live video on a single phone line over the regular dial-up phone network . For example, a new PC often comes with several applications, many of which may be light versions or full versions with no limit on usage. Others may be only 60- or 90-day trial packages. To introduce consumers to the possibilities of videoconferencing, AMQUEST is bundling VidCall(R) Trial Edition with its COMMANDO multi-function modem/sound card. With just the COMMANDO and software, desktop PCs can be equipped to receive and display live action video from virtually any remote site -- across the street or around the world.

Supports most popular video capture devices for sending video over the phone line

The software also supports the most popular video capture devices (both internal cards and external devices for PC systems) on the market to transmit still and motion video over the phone line. Depending on the computer system and communications environment, virtual motion of up to 5 to 10 frames per second is achievable.

Other VidCall features include a shared workspace with editing tools, two-way chat box and tools for capturing and storing received video images. The trial software can be also upgraded to a full-featured retail version.
