AMOCO AND TOTAL ANNOUNCE SERVICE STATION EXCHANGE

 DENVER, Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Total Petroleum and Amoco Oil Co. today announced an agreement under which the companies will exchange a limited number of gasoline station and convenience store sites in Colorado and Wisconsin.
 Under terms of the agreement, Total will acquire eight existing Amoco facilities and one vacant site located in Colorado. Amoco will acquire eight Total facilities in Wisconsin. A spokesperson for Total Petroleum said, "The acquisition of these Amoco locations is just the beginning of our commitment to growth in Colorado. It also furthers our goal of making Total the premier brand in this region."
 A spokesperson for Amoco Oil said, "Amoco is one of the top gasoline marketers in Colorado. This exchange of a small number of locations reflects Amoco's continuing response to changing economic and market conditions." Amoco and its dealers and jobbers currently operate more than 200 gasoline stations in Colorado.
 Total Petroleum, an integrated refining and marketing company, operates four refineries in Colorado, Kansas, Oklahoma and Michigan and 2,600 stores in 22 midwestern states. Headquartered in Denver, the company employs 1,500 people in Colorado and approximately 7,000 nationally. Total Petroleum Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Total Petroleum (North America) Ltd.
