AMI Semiconductor expands digital IP library with the addition of 65 Inventra cores.

AMI Semiconductor AMI Semiconductor is a company engaged the design and manufacture of customer specific integrated circuit solutions, including solutions for the automotive, medical and industrial markets. Among its products are products that integrate processing of analog and digital signals.  (AMIS A·mis   , Kingsley 1922-1995.

) announced recently that it has entered into an agreement with Inventra, the intellectual property (IP) division of Mentor Graphics Mentor Graphics, Inc (NASDAQ: MENT) is a US-based multinational corporation dealing in electronic design automation (EDA) for electrical engineering and electronics, as of 2004, ranked third in the EDA industry it helped create.  Corporation (Nasdaq:MENT) to add 65 Inventra IP cores to its extensive digital and mixed-signal ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) Pronounced "a-sick." A chip that is custom designed for a specific application rather than a general-purpose chip such as a microprocessor.  libraries.

Access to the Inventra cores allows ASIC customers of AMIS to get to market sooner and with less cost by designing industry proven reusable cores into their end applications. The Inventra cores being offered by AMIS are particularly applicable in the automotive, medical, industrial and communication markets, either for digital or mixed-signal ASICs, where AMIS already has a significant customer base and years of design expertise.

"Our ability to offer standard and application specific functions from world leading independent IP developers, such as Inventra, frees up time and resources for our customers," said Vince Hopkin, vice president of digital ASICs at AMI Semiconductor. "They can use that time to more fully concentrate on optimizing system architectures and developing even more proprietary functionality into their end products."

All the Inventra cores now offered by AMIS include a test bench, simulation model, full documentation and netlists. The key Inventra cores licensed by AMIS include: 10/100 Ethernet MAC, Gigabit Ethernet MAC, I2C I2C Inter-Integrated Circuit
