U.S. manufacturing and Philippine test operations take

steps to meet stringent green guidelines established

by international standards body

AMI Semiconductor (Nasdaq:AMIS), a designer and manufacturer of state-of-the-art integrated mixed-signal and structured digital products for the automotive, medical and industrial sectors, today announced that all of the company's manufacturing and test facilities are officially ISO 14001 certified. This includes the U.S. chip manufacturing facility and Philippine test facility, certified in 2004, and the chip manufacturing facility in Belgium, certified in 2002. Each facility successfully passed third-party audits that ensured their environmental management systems (EMS) met all specifications laid out by the International Organizations For Standardization.

ISO 14001 is part of the ISO 14000 series of standards on environmental management that takes into account legislative requirements and establishes a framework by which an organization's impacts on the environment can be systematically identified and reduced. The ISO 14001 standard meets the demands of the international business community to have a worldwide standard for environmental management systems.

To achieve ISO 14001 certification, AMIS developed an environmental policy statement and each facility established its own performance objectives. Objectives included projects such as reduction of natural resource and chemical usage, increased focus on recycling and environmental training for employees. In addition, progress of the system is continually reviewed against the performance objectives with executive management.
