AMIBIOS8 is available in mobile configuration to support the three new processors introduced today, the Pentium M A family of CPUs from Intel that are part of its Centrino brand for mobile computing. Introduced in 2003 at speeds up to 1.6 GHz, it was formerly code named "Banias." Introduced in 2004, the second-generation Pentium M (code named "Dothan") uses the same chip package but is built with 90  processors 755, 745 and 735, formerly known under the codename "Dothan." The new chips, offering enhanced performance for mobile PCs, have already been integrated in a number of mobile platform designs that will be available shortly, among which lightweight notebooks from Uniwill, Twinhead and ECS See eComStation. .

AMIBIOS8 advantages for mobile platform designers include in-house designed embedded controller Controller circuitry built into a device or on the main system board, in contrast with a removable card or module.  firmware, support for enhanced Intel(R) SpeedStep technology, S4 ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) A power management specification developed by Intel, Toshiba and Microsoft that makes hardware status information available to the operating system.  support and easy integration of pre-boot applications such as diagnostics and multimedia, software recovery and web-browser.
