AMI's booth, located at B710 - B712 and B809 - B811, will feature the following state-of-the-art storage and computing solutions:

-- Indium, a tightly integrated, small footprint Server Appliance
        product,
-- MegaRAID(R) Ultra 160M SCSI RAID controller products,
-- HyperDisk and HyperDisk 100 IDE hard drive accelerators,
-- Ultra 160M server and subsystem backplanes,
      -- AMIBIOS products,
      -- MegaDual(TM) and MegaPlex(TM) motherboards, and
-- Microsoft(R) Cluster Server (MSCS) Cluster Kits.

"We will present new advancements in IDE RAID and clustering technology, as well as our most recent achievement of designing around the 840 chipset issue with our MegaDual(TM) motherboard," said Sanjay Sehgal, AMI director of sales. "We will also launch our new Server Appliance line of small footprint, highly integrated motherboards."

Server Appliance

The Indium Server Appliance, when combined with embedded software, is ideal for use in emerging applications like Server, Linux(R) and Web appliances. By leveraging its motherboard, firmware and embedded OS expertise, AMI has developed a new family of products that enable OEMs to meet their Time-to-Market requirements in the burgeoning embedded and server appliance market.

Ultra 160M

AMI will announce volume shipments of its MegaRAID Ultra 160M SCSI RAID products, which include the Enterprise 1600, Elite 1600 and Express 500. For entry-level needs, the Express 500 is the ideal single-channel solution, providing unequaled performance at a reasonable price. The Elite 1600, designed with mid-range system requirements in mind, is the only product on the market with two Ultra 160M SCSI channels in a true half-size form factor. At the high-end is the Enterprise 1600. With four channels of Ultra 160M SCSI at its heart, this enterprise-level card is poised to take over the high-end of the PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.

(2) (Peripheral Component Interconnect) The most widely used I/O bus (peripheral bus).
RAID market with its blistering speed and robust feature-set.

IDE RAID

HyperDisk, an IDE solution for desktops, workstations and entry-level servers, brings the true RAID concept of high performance, continuous data redundancy and protection to the desktop. A simple and cost-effective way to increase the performance capability of IDE hard disk drives, HyperDisk allows users to double drive performance or data security at a fraction of the overall cost of SCSI RAID solutions. HyperDisk has an easy setup, allowing users to employ all their applications and store files with confidence.

"As RAID technology is beginning to appeal to the end-user community, the market is happy to see AMI offering a low cost IDE RAID product to the more technically savvy home, SOHO Soho (sōhō`, sə–), district of Westminster, London, England, known for its continental restaurants. Once a fashionable quarter, it became popular among writers and artists in the 19th cent.  and small business user," said Jackie Fu, AMI Taiwan product manager.

Backplane

As a long-term vendor of RAID controllers and motherboards, AMI now offers custom IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface) A protocol for monitoring server hardware for temperature, voltage, chassis intrusion, etc. Introduced in 1998 by Intel, HP, NEC and Dell, IPMI defines a standard set of messages for the characteristics of hardware , SAF-TE SAF-TE SCSI Access Fault-Tolerant Enclosure  and Intel(R) motherboard compliant backplane designs. AMI has supported vendors over the years in their backplane designs to maximize signal integrity, optimize layout and impedance, stubs, termination, design clustering, etc. AMI is now offering Ultra 160M SCSI and Fibre Channel backplanes in a variety of popular configurations.

For years, AMI has designed and developed for OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  manufacturers the key components in high-speed systems. Its experienced design staff is well familiar with the newest approaches in the industry, as well as in using the tools and techniques needed to design high reliability systems.

AMIBIOS

AMIBIOS is designed to meet the Time-to-Market technology demands of leading OEMs, VARs and system integrators, with extensive power management, portability to all CPUs and Chipsets and incorporating tomorrow's technologies like Transmeta with their unique power saving CPUs and ServerWorks high performance workstation and server chipsets. AMI is proud to introduce its new fully-featured AMIBIOS Server 2000 for the highly competitive server and workstation market that is a direct result of working with industry leading platform providers. AMIBIOS enables AMI to continue in its support of these and other new technologies from across the industry to keep its customers out in front with their Time-to-Market goals in mind.

Clustering Technology

The MegaRAID Ultra2 LVD See LVDS.

LVD - Low Voltage Differential
Cluster Kit 1400, a complete solution that provides nearly 100 percent uptime to systems integrators and solutions providers, is AMI's flagship clustering solution. With all components packaged in one simple kit, the Cluster Kit 1400 provides VARs, system integrators and individual users the ability to enable clustering support on their current server platforms. It supports more fault tolerant RAID levels than any other solution and delivers superior performance through a tight hardware design.

The kit includes two MSCS See Microsoft Cluster Server.  Certified MegaRAID Ultra2 LVD (Series 438) controllers, four MegaRAID Cluster Enablers, cables and an Ultra2 LVD subsystem. It enables users to gain Active-Active failover clustering support without an investment in overhead and allows IS professionals the ability to utilize today's leading technology on their current install.

The Cluster Kit features a new enclosure, allowing AMI to provide the highest quality storage subsystem to its customers. The new rack-mount solution holds 10 bays rather than eight, providing the customer greater flexibility, better storage management and smart termination enabled on the box. The drive bays are all accessible without a front door and the look and feel of the box is of much higher quality and "looks good."

Motherboards

Building on its line of industry-leading multiprocessor server motherboards and basic server solutions, AMI will feature MegaDual, a dual Pentium(R) III Slot 1 motherboard with 133 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  front side bus (FSB (FrontSide Bus) See system bus.

), and MegaPlex II, a high-performance Quad Pentium(R) II/III Xeon(TM) motherboard.

MegaDual, a solution for high-performance workstations and mid-range servers, supports up to 4 GB of on-board ECC (1) (Error-Correcting Code) A type of memory that corrects errors on the fly. See ECC memory.

(2) (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) A public key cryptography method that provides fast decryption and digital signature processing.

SDRAM chips eliminated wait states by dividing the chip into two cell blocks and interleaving data between them.  system memory. AMI designed around the Intel(R) 840 chipset issue with MegaDual, providing all the capabilities of the Intel(R) 840 chipset without experiencing any failures that may result when using a memory repeater hub (MRH MRH Memory Repeater Hub

(ECC) circuitry. AMI's commitment to quality has resulted in its most advanced dual-processor board to date. MegaDual features six PCI slots (two 64-bit, 66 MHz), on-board dual channel Ultra160 SCSI and dual on-board LAN (Local Area Network) A communications network that serves users within a confined geographical area. The "clients" are the user's workstations typically running Windows, although Mac and Linux clients are also used.  support.

The MegaPlex II features four slot two Quad Pentium(R) II/III Xeon(TM) processors, 4 GB main memory support, one ISA (1) (Instruction Set Architecture) See instruction set.
