AMI DODUCO Introduces a New Combined Rhodium/Palladium Coating Process That Reduces Rhodium Costs.

PFORZHEIM, Germany -- AMI DODUCO, a Technitrol Company (NYSE:TNL), announced that it is offering a new combined rhodium/palladium process for coating jewelry.

Rhodium coatings, with their bright, whitish lustre, have long been used to beautify silver, copper and white gold. They also protect the underlying metal substrate against corrosion.

Persistently high rhodium prices have led to considerable increases in production costs. Simply reducing the thickness of the rhodium plating is not a viable option, since visible deterioration of the coating occurs quickly and detracts from the appearance and perceived quality of the object.

AMI DODUCO's a new combined process consists of the palladium bath DODUPAL(R) 3 and the rhodium bath RHODIOR(R) 2. The palladium acts as an anti-corrosive primer and minimizes the amount of rhodium needed for the finish coating.

These two solutions are ideally matched so as to guarantee the best possible material bonding. The thickness of the rhodium plating required can therefore be reduced by up to 50%.
