The Director of Communications is responsible for managing and directing an organization's internal and external communications.  position, it was announced today by Beverly Tilden, Vice President of Marketing. Ms. Brake will be based in AMFM's Chicago office. This appointment is effective November 1, 1999.

Ms. Brake will serve as the liaison between AMFM's corporate staff and its station employees. Her responsibilities include developing a company-wide news and information network and establishing and maintaining regular in-house communiques. She will contribute to a communications team which also includes James E. de Castro, Vice Chairman of AMFM Inc. and President and Chief Executive Officer of AMFM Radio, Beverly Tilden and outside public relations public relations, activities and policies used to create public interest in a person, idea, product, institution, or business establishment. By its nature, public relations is devoted to serving particular interests by presenting them to the public in the most  and advertising firms.

Mr. de Castro commented, "This is a critical time for AMFM. As it continues to grow, so does the importance -- and challenge -- of keeping our 12,800 employees informed. I'm counting on Kristi to make that happen. She has the energy and experience we need, and I welcome her to the AMFM team."

In announcing Ms. Brake's appointment, Ms. Tilden said, "We've seen the benefit of sharing information and ideas in our executive meetings, and we want to take that to the next level -- to all of our employees. Kristi's industry savvy, talent and enthusiasm make her the ideal person for this job, and I am delighted to begin working with her."

Ms. Brake joins AMFM from eNashville, a country music/lifestyle website startup, where she served as Director of Editorial Content. She previously served as Senior Manager of Marketing at Mercury Nashville, where she developed marketing plans, promotions and advertising for artists such as Shania Twain, Mark Twain, Mark, pseud. of Samuel Langhorne Clemens, 1835–1910, American author, b. Florida, Mo. As humorist, narrator, and social observer, Twain is unsurpassed in American literature.  Wills and Billy Ray Cyrus. Ms. Brake's other record industry management experience includes positions with Capitol Records-Nashville and Asylum Records. Ms. Brake began her career as a journalist, where over the course of nine years she held positions at several magazines and newspapers, including Associate Editor at Radio & Records' Nashville and Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850.  bureaus.
